A new paper by KMLabs Chief Scientist Sterling Backus along with collaborators at Cornell Unversity has been selected as an Editor’s Pick in the current issue of Optics Express.  The invited review paper, titled “Several new directions for ultrafast fiber lasers,” describes three different areas in which researchers are taking advantage of nonlinear effects to advance the capabilities of ultrafast sources.  These include Mamyshev oscillators, the nonlinear pulse generation without modelocking, and implementation of multimode fiber lasers.
